I have the sum up card reader but I think they are much of a muchness really easy to use. Money goes in the account in a couple days.
I alao signed up for go cardless for direct debit payment And that is really easy as well once your account is activated
Thanks Graeme, that's useful to know, Cheers, Chris
Hi, I've been using an IZettle this year and i'm very happy with it, once payment is made the money is in my account within a couple of days. The IZettle app on my phone works well you can customise different products and prices. A receipt can be emailed or text message is sent once payment is made.
I also bought a LM 200 portable printer off eBay which is great for my customers who haven't a mobile/computer or just prefer a receipt printed , the receipt can be customised with your logo etc.
Really useful, thanks Chris. Will order the card reader tonight. Should reduce those trips to the bank to pay in cheques!
Hi Chris haven't been on LJN for a while and have been browsing the discussions, I do use the iZettle card reader and find it very good and the commission seems pretty reasonable. I a use it for new customers or ones that I think might cause me a problem getting payments out of them using normal invoicing routes! Great thing is that you do the job, get paid by the customer and the money is in your accont within a few days, what's not to like!
I have sum up its really convenient , just takes time to appear in your account and they take a fee .
To be honest most customers pay straight into my bank account on the day so not had to use sum up card reader .
My EE phone currently offering free card reader with no processing fee for first £1,000 transaction so looking into this also .
Have you checked you cannot deposit cheques through the banking app on your mobile phone by taking a picture of them?
1.75% is too high for me, on principle. if it was a flat 50p charge or something I might go for it, a lot of my elderly ones much prefer their cheque books anyhow and I can pay them in via the app
Your mobile banking app may have a cheque paying in feature, I know Barclays and RBS banks do. No more trips to the bank, yay!
Zettle is part of Paypal, I have a Paypal card reader, not Zettle, which is also 1.75%, I don’t mind using up to around fifty quid to get quick settlement, but I don’t want people paying large amounts.
As an established user the payment clears immediately and I can transfer it straight into my current account to spend or draw out as cash, if there were to be an issue Paypal would just take it back out of my account again.
The statement is a nightmare to sort out with entries all over the place, which makes doing your accounts a pain.
I have never had an issue with a payment, but not getting a network signal when required can make the reader useless.
