Interflora didn't buy British flowers for its Time for Tea exhibit at Chelsea

It was promoted as a 'quintessentially British' creation featuring some of the nation's favourite home-grown flowers, and won a top award at last week's Chelsea Flower Show.

The Interflora Time For Tea display in the Great Pavilion featured an arty array of alliums, peonies, stocks and sweet Williams in the shape of cupcakes, and was dominated by a giant suspended teapot.

But experts have now discovered that the bulk of the design – which was due to 'represent the best of British and incorporate British-grown flowers' – were bought at market… in Holland.
