Installing an inverter in van

I've been moving over to EGO cordless kit this year and although I love its performance and build quality I do worry about running out of battery power whilst out and about.

I've been told to look at installing an inverter in my van and running the battery charger off that to keep things going whilst mobile. Can anybody comment on their experience of this sort of thing? Is it best to use a separate battery for the inverter to run off in the back of the van (which I assume I'd then have to keep charging as well) or is it really ok to plug an inverter into my cigarette lighter socket in the cab?

I think as more of us go cordless this is one of those issues that makes the difference as to whether people switch from petrol or not....

Any advice appreciated.

  • I’m also looking into this as I’m probably going to go cordless. Can’t decide between Stihl and ego at the moment though.

Andrew. How are you finding the ego stuff and what models do you have?

    • Hi Damian this will be my third season using my EGO kit and I love it I have a mower a 1500 Strimmer 14 inch chainsaw a hedge trimmer two blowers and the multi tool with three attachments so far...and 5 batteries...and I'm happy to say I've had zero issues with anything !

      • I don't know 2hy that's all underlined !

      • Which hedge cutter model are you using?

        • I think its 5100 hedge trimmer Damian

          • That’s the model I’m demoing tomorrow. Think I would prefer the longer 65cm blade though

            • Very impressed with the hedge cutter. Will definitely buy one.

how do you get on with the striker Graham?

              • Strimmer ? Best tool of the lot ! I bump feed works every time ! Easy to refill and quiet !

                • Lol. Bloody auto correct. Supposed to say Strimmer. How do you find it?

                • Thanks. Think the strimmer will be my first buy as my grass cutting is about to start. I will also buy the hedge trimmer at a later date as my hedge cutting is done now until nesting has finished.
