Explains their stance regarding direct sales Vs online sales (certainly in the US, and I would say has been true for the UK)

  • yes they got fined 7 million euros for their restrictive sales practices in europe. nice to be able to buy more of the kit online now, as well as the going into the dealership option, which could be an inconvenience at times

From memory this happened in France and fine was reduced on appeal, but other Countries where somewhat frustrated it was not mandated Europe wide which would have set an EU precedant.

However, I suspect Stihl could see the writing on the wall so relaxed it's policies across it's main EU distribution channels.

There's many a post from myself on LJN highlighting the annoyance and frustration with the original policy as it failed to recognise their largest market - us, the Contractor.

I've also seen commentary that the 'domestic' marketplace is fast outpacing the professional marketplace, espescially since the Viking rebranding.

If so, its clear where the future focus will be.....?
