Not much help here re costing, but we have worked on projects with Gabions. A place to start would be in the specs - if there are any. The project we worked on, they were filled with reclaimed rubble, with a face of natural stone.
same as Colin one of my gardens had a haha built with gabions faced with bricks and rubble behind
work out the number of gabions the time to assemble them the price for the face product and the fill behind the cost of the time to do all this and get it all, plus your profit and expense's
A good place to start is
http://www.gabionbaskets.co.uk/
we got some helicoil springs from them.
There is plenty of info on their site, sizes, construction but you can also contact them for advice
Having had to empty, re-construct (landscapers mistake), gabions we know it is quite time -consuming
1 cubic metre of gabion volume requires 1.5 tonnes of stone
limestone is often used

you can also get a facing stone like a slab, and back fill with anything, depends on what your trying to do, and what is visible
thank you gents
