After a lot of comments and requests to organise regional LJN meetings to satisfy everybody, how do we motivate LJN members to attend ?
It's 'our' network and the meetings will give an unrivalled opportunity to network with colleagues, socialise and help decide LJN's future.
So - rearrange that job or meeting, look at van sharing.......just do it !
Now is the time to give something back to LJN.........
Please, please do make an effort to attend, without your support little can be achieved.
It would be great to keep the thread positive to ensure as many as possible consider the benefits of making the meetings rather than negatives that seem to be floating around.

I am just trying to get as much support for the meetings as possible.....
It is more the chance (in my view, as stated above) to network, socialise and/or have your say as to the future of LJN.
Whether you want to join a "commitee" / "steering group" etc or not is surely down to the individual and is not a pre-requesite of attending.........
I think there are many members who would like to attend, but may find it difficult - I intend to go to the Birmingham meet on the 23rd as long as I can finish on that day by 2pm (Bad weather on Wed or Thursday could trash this plan!), but Im based in leeds - thats a 300 mile round trip to meet up - and that is the closest meeting to me - Alot of members will be in the same situation - more than a couple of hours drive from the nearest meet - and this will mean its just not feasible for some people.
I am happy to car share or rent with another member from the leeds area - although I have not seen the other Leeds based guys on here recently.
I think future meet ups will have higher attendance once people on the sidelines see how succesful they are. For this meet up just reminding people how good it could be to meet up chat and just test the water, should be enough.
Think a lot of the issues for not of attending is the logistics , fair play to Phil for making the effort to have regional meetings, personally won't decide for sure until the week of the meet whether to attend or not, getting an agenda as to what the format/discussions before the meetings would be good as would be some feedback from the meetings on the previous two nights.
Can echo some thoughts on here, whilst a supporter of LJN, am not able to attend any of the proposed AGM meetings due to work commitments with spring rush and all that. But also, to be honest, not particularly turned on by the thought of steering groups and committees or politicising the forum. What I like about LJN is that it is not an official organisation or trade body - and that it is open to everyone. Although I do accept/agree that Phil may need some help in running it and we have talked before about generating more income for the site etc. Happy to continue to support LJN online - it is invaluable source of knowledge, expertise and support for all us sole traders - and and would definitely try to attend any local work/social meet as meeting, sharing thoughts and experiences with others is good. Having tried last year to organise an LJN social/business/garden visit, actual turnout on day is pretty dismal despite virtual support. Also attended the Creating Landscpapes last October, and even with the greatest support and promotion, a disappointing minor proportion of the network attended over the two days. So maybe, ultimately, that although it may grow and evolve, we just have to accept and celebrate the phenomenumememenumenum that is the online community of LJN?. I really hope the AGM meetings work out though as Phil is putting alot of effort into touring the country.
I'd echo the other comments. Meeting up is worth the effort to me this time as the events have been organised with a lot of hard work behind them. Only fair to support it if possible.
The difficulty is, of course, we all work for ourselves and live all over the country. That's the point of an online community, you rarely meet up in the "real" world.
Ive not yet been to any of the LJN meet ups for various reasons. But i for one am really looking forward to the Guilford meet up as all members that are attending i am really looking forward to meeting.
In no particular order;
1) To finally put names to faces
2) To have a social evening with like minded people
3) To have a beer!
4) To network and could possibly pick up some good pointers as to the future benefits of business
5) To discuss Ljn and its future. And see what points are made. If nothing comes of these points then so be it. LJN will still exist the day after. Maybe these things may take a year or two to implement.
If you are going to the meet ups then thats great. But bare in mind all the negative comments i keep reading on here (and LJN in general) are not going to encourage `non attenders` in to attending these events.
So i am just saying. I am really looking forward to it. If you are not attending because you are nervous etc. Please take the plunge and attend as i think you will have a good evening.

The 'welsh thing' you mention was not mentioned in a post - it came about as part of a late night chat in response to JP's "Welsh Matey's" comment. His words, not mine. You did not participate in this chat if my memory serves me correct?
I haven't sworn, used profanities or anything else in any of my posts.

No John, you are taking things personally when nobody mentioned you. No sure why you view things that way. I mentioned that since the welsh meeting was announced some people changed their tune, which is true and not a negative comment, but an observation.
