Honda hrx 537 engine problems

Started to surge on Friday,stripped and cleaned the carb,flushed and cleaned fuel tank,at a bit of a loss now,don't fancy getting raped at the local,dealer...does anyone have any ideas...cheers

    i've got a gx engine that's started surging. it's been stood for a couple of years, looks like the governor is the cause of my problem - i've soaked it in wd40 and it seems a little better, but maybe that's just the governor loosening up after it's long rest.

    if you've eliminated fuel as a problem, then it could be the gov.

    If you checked obvious things like plug, fuel filter, then most surging ive come across is caused by fuel/carb problems and blocked pilot jets, particularly If at low revs. Try blowing jets and bypass holes with compressed air or get some carb cleaner, bu don't use wire or anything. Sometimes easier to replace carb.

    Can also be caused by weak governor.

    Anyone else?

    Problem solved,air filter totally blocked with oil after tipping the mower on its side to glean it

    At least you found it.!

    Always tip mower keeping air/filer upside and exhaust downside.

    B&S engines tend to worst for this and are often opposite to honda engines.
