Compressions are far too low.
I would suspect either worn out piston rings and/or badly adjusted or burnt out valves.
yes i know that should be 85 to 120 psi but till i got clearances for pistons and ring and valves i do not want pull it a part

Page 17 lists valve clearances. 0.10 thou inlet, 0.15 thou exhaust (COLD).

when i bought this in the spring it started and ran fine . i was told it had just been rebuild new pistons rings time belts the lot but after using it for a couple times if you stop it hot it will not restart .
i am hoping that it is something simple to fix as i really have not got the time to pull the whole engine to bits .
when i worked in the trade i seen engines rebuild with pistons put in the wrong way around rings fitted upside down the list is endless . it may well have to wait till winter when i may have time to strip it right down . is there timing marks for the valve timing there manual i found online did not show anything that be helpful
