  • If you want to collect it's got to be an Etesia, if it's a mix of mulch and collect Honda HRX HY 537, we only use these and are mainly commercial work, the collection is acceptable in the wet, run the back wheels one setting higher than the front and keep the bag clean. We did use Honda pro's 4 wheel but they are no good in the wet and swapped to the 537's, currently run 3 and as noted on the forum previously rate them very highly. We have had Etesia's but we had an issue with the design of the wheels creating terrible tramlines and generally cutting the turf up obviously the wetter the conditions the worse this is, Greggs mowing on youtube agrees worth a look. Any 4 wheeler will tramline but the 537's are relatively light so not so much of an issue.

    • Hi Peter

Thanks for the information that is a great help.:-)

  • Just worth noting that in our experience the Stihl mowers collect pretty much as well as the Etesia mowers we've had. Much cheaper too. Not as robust of course but extremely good for wet weather work as long as not all day every day. Also, as they are light, the tram lines are much less of an issue. It's not a Honda obviously so probably no use to you, but worth pointing out for any who are looking for a relatively inexpensive wet collection option.

    • Hi PGM what Stihl movers are you suing, Please?

      • We have the petrol versions of the RM448VC and the RM545VR, also know a chap with the RM650V. All fantastic in the rain. Don't leave as nice a finish as our pro Hayters and not as robustly made as some of the more expensive mowers, but for use mainly in the wet we find them invaluable.

  • Hello!

For a petrol Honda 4-wheel lawn mower that handles wet grass well, you might want to consider the Honda HRX series. The HRX models are known for their durability, performance, and ability to handle challenging mowing conditions, including wet grass.

Specifically, you might look into models like the Honda HRX217HYA or HRX217HZA. These models feature Honda's exclusive MicroCut Twin Blade system, which provides finer clippings and better mulching performance, even in wet conditions.

While an Etesia mower might be the ultimate choice for wet grass, Honda mowers are also known for their reliability and effectiveness in various conditions.

Hope this helps, and happy mowing!
