HMRC business records check!

I've just had a nice phone call from HMRC informing me that they are sending someone out to check the way I keep my business records. It's a random selection, and I have no skeletons in my closet, but there is still that nigling worry. Has any one gone through one of these? Any advice gratefully received.

    I had one years ago; they found some things I'd done wrong both in their favour and in mine. I think we ended up with about a pound refund on our VAT, that was it!

    Scary, as you always feel guilty for some reason, a bit like when you see a policeman and some inner voice says "run way", lol. The bloke that came to us was very pleasant, and I guess everyone he visits is a bit on edge. If you've nothing to hide, relax.

    Something I've always dreaded as I fear my records a few years back, weren't so good as now. They're keen working on a Sunday?

    It started with a letter informing me that they would contact me if I didn't call them before a deadline. I called and they interviewed me. They told me the result of the interview would be : no further action, business education or investigation . I answered the questions well and was surprised when they decided on investigation. Apparently they are coming out within 2 weeks. I have nothing to worry about -I hope!
