hl95 vs km130 long reach hedge cutters

Hi all, looking to purchase a set of long reach hedge cutters, looked on stihl site and noticed there,s quite a difference  in power between these machines, does anyone use these two ??? if so can you tell the difference in power  as the hl95 is 28cc and the km130 is 36cc, thanks...

  • I use a hl100 which I'm pretty happy with.  All I'd say is that the vibrations on the km are much worse than the hl, so unless you actually want a kombi, I'd get the dedicated machine. It'll do a good job.

  • i use a km130 kombi, for it i have, edger, blower, pruner, long reach hedge cutter, trimmer and a 1m extension.

It's a real good piece of kit, never used the trimmer part but i suppose it would be ok for a backup if my other 3 trimmers knackered all at once lol.

It's quite a heavy unit when doing hedges with the long reach and the engine casing gets very hot (burnt through my waterproofs)

It will certainly build your upper body muscles up :)

The blower is just amazing though, what power it has, can shift any wet leafs / grass etc of paths. i wouldn't be without it!

Also they are very good on fuel...

    Cheers

  • after been out using mine today i forgot to mention how terrible the petrol cap is, leaks petrol everywhere :(

why cant it just be a screw on cap :(

  • PRO

Leaking cap is a common 'fault' on the new style machines and is down to the cap being put on at sometime "incorrectly".

In theory the news style caps can only be 'engaged' with the fuel tank in one position, but experience has shown that it can be 'forced' on.

Once this happens it breaks or often does not seal properly afterwards.

  • I think they have gone back to screw on as i bought a km130 about 6-8 weeks ago and it has a screw on :)

Oh...I do hope so...for such a little thing it causes so many problems...

I've mentioned before that 'modern' Stihl equipment does not seem to be as robust as stuff of old...or is that my rose tinted glasses...:-)

  • just ordered a new cap from amazon for £5ish delivered..
