Havent got that van but do have the 8 foot ladders that fit in the back of my transit, theyd be fine on a roof rack on a combo, i wouldnt want the 6 foots as my only option, the 8 foots are so versatile with the 3 extending legs and will reach the top of most hedges. i do have the 14 foot ones for higher stuff but only use them a handfull of times a year
The highest hedge i have at the moment is 8ft and the rest all smaller 6ft would be idea for them 8ft ladder seem to be really wide to be carry on top of a combo thats how i was edgeing towards the 6ft ladder
8' ladders 1.3m wide, your vans probably around 1.65m, youll be glad of the extra width when you up them, obviously the wider they are the more stable they are and cutting a 8' hedge on 6' ladders is going to be tricky according to henchmans, your actually only standing off the ground 3', the top of the hedge will be about shoulder height ( unless your actually 7' tall! ) its not the ideal postion when cutting top of hedges. its much easier at waist height.
Its long as the 8ft dont over hang the van should be fine are they if i buy the 8ft gives me chance of getting bigger hedge if they come along i have a few hedge in tight spaces where the 6ft ladders would be idea think the 8ft woukd be to wide for them
I have an 8ft henchman and it goes on 2 roof bars of my berlingo, the two feet over the the back doors and no wider than the widest body part of the van, so safe as it doesn't stick out, the top hand rail is then just over the top of my windscreen (doesn't poke over the bonnet)
Perfect might order the 8 do you use them for hedge less than 8ft most of my hedge are bewteen 6-7 foot have the odd one over 7 foot
Yes use them on some hedges below 8ft though bear in mind the top will be in the way when cutting in front of you. A lot of my hedges are 8ft so the top doesn't then get in the way as I'm trimming the top of a hedge at the same level as the handle.
I know it's not the ladder in question, but if you are limited by van size something like this might be worth considering.

very similar to what I use Glen, very compact, sturdy and versatile, If I were to buy a henchman it would be one of the massive ones
I had similar lasders to these before and the springs on them broke thats how i was looking at the henchman ladders seem to get very good reviews
