Help with lawn

Hi everyone, I've only just recently started out. The main lawn at a manor house I work at has recently over the space of a month gained a lot of moss to the point where it's half moss half grass. I don't think I've helped matters as I had cut the grass too short too late. Can someone advise what the best thing would be to do now over the next few months to get it back into top shape? Thanks very much.

  • What is the area of the lawn Jay?

  • Around 25 by 25ft. Cheers

  • 65sq m doesn't seem very big Jay, leave it until the spring before treatment and scarifying. There may be underlying problems that may need attention as the year goes on.

625 sq.m  - probably best to plan for March applications and treatments - moss treatment & scarifying for sure - probably some aeration. Spend the time before then working out what weeds you have, the type of soil underneath and how moisture retentive it is so you can get your ducks in a row. The more clay-ey the soil the more likely it is to grow moss - especially if compacted .....
