We have been asked to plant a hedge along the top of a disused sand stone quarry.  There is about 500mm depth of soil along the top of the quarry and we need a vigorous root system to help hold the soil in place and reduce the erosion. There is extensive ivy on the ground, which will stay, to help the erosion issue. Any thoughts on hedging, we are looking at 4 plants per meter, staggered, in 5 to 10L pots with initial height of about 50cm. Would welcome suggestions please.
