Hayter Parts 3 year Obsolete?

Was told today by my mower service chap that Hayer have just introduced a policy to obsolete parts after 3 years - thereby forcing new mower purchases. He couldn't believe it, nor could I and he was trying to chase down confirmation. Has anyone else heard this? If it was 1st April I wouldn't have been surprised!

Hopefully someone from Hayter or a supplier will see this and confirm the situation. Hopefully this is not their plan...

I've just asked Hayter - seemed a bit bonkers but you never know. Anyway, this is their response...

I am sorry you have heard this, I can guarantee this is not true
