Hayter or Honda?! Or neither......!

Now then! Hope all are well and surviving the rain!

Just looking for suggestions/general comments etc etc on roller mowers.  I bought a Honda mower a few months back, it doesn't have a roller but was bought for slightly smaller and more awkward jobs, I'm keeping it but need a mower which will lay down nice stripes etc.  To be honest I'm quite disappointed with the Honda, I bought it thinking I should get a Honda because it's a Honda...! But there's various things I just think are a bit naff on it so am looking at the new hayter 56 instead, Any other suggestions and feedback greatfully received!

Thanks all,

Ben

  • Honda Pro , or lawnflite Pro even.

  • Unless it's for smaller lawns a hayter Pro 48 with roller for stripes. Every lawn is different and every mower cuts grass in a different way. Some are better for mid summer if growth is low, others for mowing long or wet grass like an etesia or big viking maybe.

The new toro 56 is a beefed up version of the hayter 56 - I would buy that.

I would definitely choose the Masport cheaper and more reliable in my opinion 457951_f16_a_rh_rotorolaspal_hr.jpg

Is it time to get a rear roller? - Masport Lawnmowers
It combines the excellent striped finish of a roller mower with the efficiency of a rotary mower.
    • It won't last as long as Honda Pro or lawnflite.

But it took me a long time to be able to afford these solid machines with longegevity.

Another good thing is resale value after 5-10yrs.

      Like hayter.

      • I've Masports that are still going strong after 15 years................ mine have a simple belt drive whereas the Kaaz/Lawnflite have a distinctly dodgy gearbox which if you can't repair yourself, will cost you hundreds every couple of years or so.

        • Old masports probably better.

Lawnflite Pro has shaft drive,  no dodgy belts to go wrong like they do on many machines if pushed. Or hydrostatic as Honda Pro hx.

Horses for courses and get what you pay for.

But a professional needs a professional machine £1100- £1460 or more for an etesia Pro is a good investment new or second hand from my 20yrs experience using a variety of mowers.  Each to their own.

    A useful guide maybe.

Honda Pro, Old Big 855 Viking Pro and Lawnflite Pro on my channel. Old Hayter Pro not on yet.

  • We Bought a weibang early this summer and I highley reccommend it. It is heavy as most roller mowers will be but the build quality and finish are really good. Very simple one lever height adjustment too.
