Hayter 48 pro 2010 silver

Hi. Have been following the discussion on this http://www.landscapejuicenetwork.com/forum/topics/i-got-a-silver-machine?id=2074886%3ATopic%3A84637&page=4#commentsthread regarding the larger roller. Some interesting advice. I am sorely needing a reliable 19" roller to replace my 2002 hayter pro. Am looking at these silver machines but did buy a 2006 hayter 48 pro new a few years ago and it was awful for all the well known reasons. I know we are all waiting for time to tell, but is anyone using one of these machines happily yet? The previous 2006 model couldnt handle a fortnights growth with a little dew on it, has this been addressed? Any advice very welcome. Thanks in advance...

  • Hi Paul, are you using the masport commercially. ie every day? does the build stand up?

Just go for the new Masport, brilliant machine. Don't waste time with Hayter, as good as they are in the dry - they wont work in the wet.
  • I'd be interested to hear review of masport machines too as our local equipment supplier is dealing fairly heavily in them now.
  • These machines are great. In full swing with one and its a pleasure.
  • I was looking at the new hayer pro in my local dealer last week and looked underneath. The casing where the blades go round is still PLASTIC. I think im right in suggesting that the underneath of a mower shouldnt be plastic!!! And a "professional mower should have no plastic it on it at all"
I said this to the dealer and he agreed with me and they were not kean on them either.
However he did say that they have replaced some of the old washers, nuts, belts etc with new stronger ones. So in that respect they have improved, but id still avoid as they havnt improved that much.
  • think ill just keep my Hayter autocut 48. as ive had no problems with it for years.
ill have it fully serviced . bought 2nd hand 3 yrs ago. never serviced yet. maybe blade was sharpened

oh sorry i did have a new height adjust (replaced for modern steel rod ,rather than pressed shaped flat type)

worth spending £100 odd ponds on and its 1998 i think.

my neighbour also fixed my bascket corners very well with creosote bottle corners ! better than new ......
