You're probably the only person that looks at those ratings lol..........They're bound to say that so they can't be sued if there's problems! Don't worry about it.
Where do you find the ratings please?
Should be in the manual for each machine, or available from their website. You can then calculate using the spreadsheet here. https://www.hse.gov.uk/vibration/hav/index.htm
We use the Ostrich principal and have done for the last 40 years plus with no ill effects so far. If you comply with all this H&S s**t you end up with getting no work done apart from reams of record keeping and filling out RAMS.
It really is getting ridiculous where common sense and self preservation do not come into the equation.
We have just completed a 30 page questionnaire, yes 30 pages to become an "approved contractor" for probably the worlds largest facilities management company. Information required a statement on our "Gender Identity Policy" , "Modern Slavery Statement" and so it goes on all so we can mow a bit of grass, but no information required on our actual abilities to do the job.
The world has gone mad, this stuff is best ignored.
I know what I'd like to tell them about their "gender identity policy" but I'd never get the work. The stupid thing is that the people high-up in these businesses that ask these ridiculous questions..... like us, they no doubt think its absolute nonsense but are frightened to say so. At least one thing Trump has the right ideas on lol!!
Anti-vibration gloves are useful when mowing/strimmmg/hedge cutting for long periods. I like the leather Stanley ones.
Sean Clarke are those the ones sold in screwfix that you are referring to? I need to get some to replace my current ones which are Handlandy ones but looking a bit tatty now
Quite possibly, I haven't bought a pair recently, but they were from Screwfix at the time. Really comfy and they definitely cut down on the vibes.
Yes, the gel-filled pads on the palm really help. I only started with them last year, use them all the time now. If only I'd done it earlier, instead I have Dupuytrens contracture in my right hand and stress pains in right forearm. It's the little two stroke machines that vibrate the worst.
Having suffered from Ulnaritis for years, vibration does make a big difference. Top handle chainsaws & using a grinder all day long buggered me up. I have had my right Ulnar nerve (on your funny bone) de-compressed twice & even moved under my elbow now. Using battery kit has made a massive difference, the Stihl HLA 85 was my first kit after talking to a rep at Winchester GM. I now use as much battery power as possible, The vibrations are so much lower. I hate using my Weibang mower because of the vibrations. I do use anti vib gloves but find these are cumbersome, when usng the controls on a mower. When your hands are tingling after using kit for too long, it does all add up & will lead to problems later on.
