There are some students in Headingly that are doing this - However its so far been a flurry of activity followed by total abandonment - such as a Plot on Monk Bridge road - cleared, some veg planted and wild flowers, then forgotten and reclaimed by Rosebay willowherb in no time at all - Same goes for many of the Verges near Leeds Met campus - Students go home and the whole lot is left to fall apart.
A friend of mine tried planting Sunflowers and Tagetes in various places, to find they either got strimmed off, or sooner or later removed by the land owner. In leeds, every spot of public green space is seen to by the councils strimming teams sooner or later. From verge, corner to crack in the wall.
Anyone have any success stories?
