gt new feed program (spring)

whats your take on this then, is there such a granular fertiliser  that would work this way ? they putting it down jan/feb

Our ‘Spring Ready’ Treatment can endure snow, frost, and even heavy rain on your lawn as it lies dormant waiting for the most effective time to release nutrients. Subsequent cold weather snaps will halt the fertiliser release so no need to worry about flushes of growth at the wrong time of the year. We also apply a micronutrient feed that helps manage moss and when we start seeing weed growth, from March onwards we will apply targeted weed control

It's just a controlled release fertiliser based on soil temperature, like Glen's link. They are readily available from most fertiliser suppliers and they do give flexibility on scheduling in the spring at a cost.

I don't really follow what GT do, however, looking at their website, this is front page news, so yes I would expect them to start using it. We did something similar a couple of seasons ago, and whilst it gave us flexibility on scheduling, eg putting down some of the spring ferts in late Feb, the customers do get twitchy if the gap between treatments is too long, so we decided against repeating last spring. Won't be doing so this spring either.

I know of other lawn care people who do use these coated control release ferts, and like them, so I think it's down to personal preference and how you wish to interact with customers.
