Green waste in North West London

Apologies that this post is only relevant to a small number of people, but I think it is an important issue to raise and this seems like one of the best places to raise it.  To those that use the West London Waste Authority, and in particular the site at Abbey Road in Brent, the site has been closed to Trade waste since June 2025.  A real problem for me, as the alternatives are much further away and are located in congested areas, so it can involve a two hour round-trip to dispose of waste there.  I received an email this week notifying that it was soon to re-open to the trade for garden waste only, followed later in the year for other types of waste.  For reasons described in the email, the prices were to increase.

The minimum charge for garden waste has increased from £18 to £24.80.  That is an increase of 37% on the minimum charge.
The price per ton has increased from £80 to £124.  That is an increase of 55% per ton.

These things can often pass by unnoticed, and so I thought it might be helpful to some gardeners in the area to be aware of this.  I have raised this with Brent's local councillors and am engaged in a discussion with them on this, but one person alone can achieve less than a team, so if anyone reads this post that is affected, I would encourage you to raise the issue with your own councillors.
