Thuja Green Giants usually don't require any pruning. If left unchecked, they'll grow to their great heights very quickly. If you choose to prune your green giant arborvitae, you can remove about a third of the central leader of the tree (the main part of the trunk which grows upright through the center), which can encourage wider growth that disperses into a bushier structure. And if the width of the Thujas is at least 6 inches, you can even shape them into flat-topped hedges if you want to. Make sure to use hand pruners or shears if you do decide to prune it. If you ever have more trees to trim, check out the most common tree care techniques you can do to maintain their health and appearance.
