I have had a epson stylus 1290 for over 5 years and never had a problem with it.
I've found the WF-7515 to be very good. Quite economical with the ink compared to other printers I've had, especially if you get the larger Stag cartridges. Great to have an A3 scanner and also the document feeder is handy to copy or scan lots of pages. Changing between paper sizes is a bit of a job though and when you have A3 paper in the draw sticks out. Have printed high quality photos and lots of A3 plans.
i got the brother mfc-j6510dw 18 months ago and it's still working fine.
would have preferred a laser, but for my budget i had to go with the brother ink jet.
it's £143 delivered from printerland at the moment, if this one pegs out, i'd get another
does depend what you want out of it of course. for me it's great.
another vote for the brother very good and easy to use
Hi Sam
I have the WF7515 as well and it has been great. Only downsides - paper tray needs a bit of a slam to make sure it's fully in position. Obviously it only holds one paper size at a time so you do have to keep loading and unloading if you're using for A4 and A3. If you want to do double sided, this is an option you can select, but it doesn't turn the paper itself, you have to turn the printed paper and put it back into the tray. I have only worked out how to scan via the computer interface, not directly from the printer. I don't use it enough to be able to say how well the ink lasts, but make sure you have spare ink as once it decides it has run out, it won't print - although there is an option to print blacks using colours, though this is more expensive. Quality generally very good - and if you need to print fast and don't care about quality, it will do this as well. It will print up to (close to) the edges.
For design work, it is great to be able to print, copy and scan A3 as well as enlarging and reducing easily. My last printer also faxed but I'm quite happy to consign faxing to the dark ages!
