Strimmer is faster true . but make a loud noise and a bit of smoke so why not to cut the time of strimming in about 60% by using strimmer resistant lawn edging. As it stops the grass growing to the sides you can strim very fast using it as a guide.
I used edging for more than 10 years and deeply learned about it- before I invested everything on it.
I Asked the manufacturer to produce for me only a 2mm strong edging that proved as lasting - and used that in all my gardens. about 8,000 metres of that were bought and keep getting great e-mails back from happy customers.
I attached a photo of a cheap edging that Does not work wll , Plastic The fact that heavy duty lawn edging or the smartedge are 2 mm and weight about 8 times more than the cheap plastic wavy edgings - that cause them to behave completely different- they last perfectly.
22% off for LJ members
Last week I got 4 new pallets of the heavy duty lawn edgings.

Now in new Size available

.The chain begins with B !, as to the battery having cut all of our edges (350m) it's still going strong. Flymo say battery life is 30 minutes, but this is obviously for strimmer mode in thicker grass rather than the edges. I reckon you would get 1000m metres cut on one charge. Don't get me wrong, this doesn't replace a petrol strimmer, it's too slow, but as an edger ?, Fantastic.
350 metre will cost anyone much less than £700.00
for sure for LJ members.
As a garden designer/landscaper I was trying to get the best for my customers but also in prices that I could have a mark-up.
So lets say, 350 metre should cost my customer £700. I would charge him £680- 700 and make an extra £150.
I do not think it is bad it normal in many fields- and after trade to trade prices are based on the fact that these are returning customers . so if you run your firm and carry all the expenses why not to get the benefits too.

I think your prices for this edging is great. We did a job for a customer last year and the edge we used cost a fortune in comparison. Have kept a note of your lead on this edging in case we need again for another customer, Thanks. For the customers who don't want to pay out the cash, the Flymo still has to be the answer. Also agree with your comments on marking up, everyone needs to make a little these days. Never pass on anything for nothing ! Take Care.
