Bought one of those myself a year or so back for my HSA86 Really handy for doing tops and you can add/remove it in seconds..................... never bothered with the metal clips..... not sure why we even need them as it works fine without them. Did away with the orange plastic "guard" on the blades................. found it just got in the way and its not fitted to my HS86 and HS87 so I really can't see its of any great benefit.
Hmm,I tend to use 30" single sided hedgetrimmers. And if you're doing a sweeping cut along the side of a conifer hedge-these really kill you as you are carrying heavy cuttings on the up stroke. As to hedge tops,if they're high enough say 8 ft,the cut material can stay where it is rather than adding to the huge raking up job from a long hedges side debris tbh.I've tried these and generally take them straight off off pre-fitted by the manufacturer. Also, they make your blade length bigger and klunkier. So its a no point gadget for me.
Really like using these, some single sided machines have them built into them. We find it makes the top of hedges so much neater.
