I think the code you're refering to is your log on for the tax area of gov.uk. This usually takes 2 weeks. Then you can log onto the gov website and then submit the claim. Then its a further 6 days from then.
The expectation from the government is that people are paid as per their normal pay day, then it's claimed back. If it is the logon code above, then I think the accountant should have told you it's a 3-4 week process.
I processed mine and already had the logons as self assessed / self employed and vat / paye registered. Payment arrived 6 days later as per their literature. This was after I had paid people as we do payrol on the 21st and payment received on the 27th.
Surprised you don't have a logon for gov uk.
It was a simple process and didn't need to go anywhere near my accountant. I would query with the account what this code is?
I figured it out now and you're right it is just a code for the accountant to act as an agent and have access to my account.
she hadn't expained it to me. I wish I'd just made the claim myself .
sometimes things are quicker, less hassle and less money to do yourself! Nevertheless, hope it all comes through for you eventually.
Yes totally. I get the accountant to do the payroll because it's one less job for me but sometimes I think it takes me longer to sort out with them then if I had just done it myself.
I use moneysoft payroll manager - about £70 per year. Takes me around 30mins per month for 6 people including auto emailing of payslips, pension calcs and RTI submissions.
Thanks. I'll look into that.
