Fuel driven pressure washer Test

Probably sounds like a dumb question but is it possible to test the engine of a fuel driven pressure washer is firing up without having to connect it to a water supply , ?  Its been in storage for the last five years , carefully stored , tank emptied , oil changed and working prior to storage .

    Depends on the model, but general rule of thumb is don't leave the engine running without water - you can knacker the pump.
