You might be better getting a refund or replacement at this early stage i would have thought 25 pulls would flood the carb .
I have an easy start 94 combi which never lived up to my expectations of an easy start in fact the older stihls seem to start more reliably .
In my case the starting got progressively worse and then refused to start when engine was hot during work in progress .
from my understanding once started easy start is meant to allow you to start the machine all day but like yours mine took forever to get started then refused to start so i asked an experienced machine engineer to take a look who got it running but it started to play up again , i dont use it anymore .
I got 18 months erratic service from the machine .
I have a 94 engine that is 4 years old. Takes One or two pulls at most to start running (with the choke on) and blip the throttle to take the choke off and it's fine after another 5 or so seconds of idling to warm. So yours has a defect somewhere.
Mine starts the same as Seths, very easy but I did have an issue of the carb being loose that made starting a real pain. Nipped it back up and it's been fine since.
Thanks guys, something definately not right somewhere. As I'm not very savvy with engines i dont really want to mess with anything in case it voids the warranty. I've emailed the company I bought it from again to see what they suggest. Busy time of year for us gardeners though, so I hope they dont suggest collecting it and repairing it as I'll be without a strimmer for a fair while.
We've a few of them and generally very trouble-free and start easy. Suggest you discard fuel from tank and in fuel lines, remove clean/replace plug, refuel and try again.
Mine is very similar to your email from Stihl. Prime the carb a few times.... then pull the cord a few times........... it will usually start after about 5-6 pulls............ if it doesn't, turn the choke off, hold the throttle open and it will then start on the first pull. They're a great machine and must have had mine for about 4 years.............. the only negative is it has a very small fuel tank so have to remember to top it up frequently.
That technique also works well on flooded chainsaws . With caution of course .
Is the small tank to prevent the engine from over heating ?
I think it was designed for fairly light use rather than hours of non-stop work where refueling cold be a problem. I find it ideal where you're just doing 5-10 minutes strimming on a job.
I've had 2 KM 94 RCE power units, and both have had starting issues, piss poor in my opinion, one went back within a week needing a new Carb, Stihl are not the company they used to be, I would get it back to shop and get them to sort it out, sooner rather than later buddy... Good luck
Sounds faulty to me. I've had 2. Both take 5 pulls from cold and they're running. After that, they'll start 1st or 2nd time. Take it back, fella.
