ferrous sulphate

Hi

Can anyone help with this

I had delivered today Ferrous sulphate as a replacment for Premier Soluble Iron which i have been using for years at the rate of 300g in 10 Liters of water which treats approx 100m 2.

I know the two are the same but never having used it before i was wondering what application rates have you used and worked well for you in a 10li knapsack.

Many thanks

Martin

  • I assume that you will be using this as a moss killer rather than just greening up the grass and hardening against frost and disease?
    • Being spring it will be the moss killing and greening rates rather than the hardening. Lol

  • What is the FE % contents Martin?

I use FE20% and mix at a rate of 1.25kg with 10L water which treats approx. 500m2.   I can crank up the dose rate if for heavy infestation but as a general rule of thumb the 1.25 / 10L is sufficient.

    • This is the problem it was bought via pitchcare and the bag has no specifications on at all.

I've been intouch with pitchcare and they have no record of this product nor why it was sent to me as a replacement

  • I guess it would be 9% but a bit naughty of them to send un-marked products!  I have just sent them a direct tweet message regarding this post.

If guessing I was say your current mix rate would be acceptable.

  • I did phone up to complain as the bag was also split down the middle and side when i opened the box that it was delivered in.

The Gentleman i spoke to did apologise and offer a replacement but as i needed it that day i put the contents in an airtight container.

  • If you used it today, what rate did you opt for?
