Used to drive a Hayter Beaver ride on for the council that used to catch light quite regularly when dry grass built up by exhaust. Could smell burning when turning corners. Also had a Husqvarna strimmer catch light while I was using it that was a bit scary. Also had a flymo wrap itself round some hidden washing line in grass and climb a wall on me once.
As with Gary, my ride on would catch fire when dry grass built up around the drive belt. The first time it happend I remember thinking, "What inconsiderate b**tard is having a bonfire on such a lovely afternoon?". I realised it was me when my shoe started melting!
I've had grass smoulder on my pro46 PBTS - dry grass and a leaf had got into the exhaust grille and were pressed up against the exhaust, Easy enough to happen in this weather.
