Etesia Bahia - Grass Catcher

I'm using a Bahia for the first time this season. It is a used unit I've worked on through the winter, its is great except it is dropping the odd bit of grass which spoils the cut and means I have to spend time picking it up.

Opening the top flap and looking down in to the catcher I can see three gaps where the plastic lower panel touches the botttom the metal frame on the mower. I'm thinking grass is dropping through in bumps and turns.

Question is, should those gaps be there - I've checked the fit of the plastic bottom panel, all is good. I've looked at the parts diagram just in case I'm missing a rubber flap or something similar - nothing there.

Can anyone tell me if those gaps should be there, I've tried to photograph them looking down in to the catcher.

Thanks.

I’ll check against ours, but is that a std base?  Ours are moulder plastic with built in clips that push over the tubular frame  and can fold up into the catcher .... might just be picture....

    • I think so Gary, yes it is blow moulded plastic with spring clips used to hold it to the bottom tube. To remove it I lift the clips off the tube and pull it out.

I wondered if the bag frame is distorted and the pastic base should go underneath the steel frame as the catcher hinges closed again, but it would have to drop maybe 5mm or so to get underneath so maybe not.

Ok  ( hard to tell in pictures sometimes... :) It could be the frame.

We've "done" our frames a few times reversing. You end up taking off the Rclips and removing the whole frame, then you can 'stand' on the section to straigthen it out.

I'll check out for you and post some comparison pictures.
