are you sure the carb is the problem? There's not much to go wrong with them so I'm sure you'll have given it a good clean. There's pictures of bothcarbs here which might help identify which one is yours https://www.kramp.com/shop-gb/en/vp/carburettor-kawasaki--ticItemGr...
I'm certain the carb is for an fj engine, the choke won't come off and it was installed without gaskets, also had an air gap between the air intake and carb, making the air filter useless 😔 I've gone and bought the John Deere to try an engine swap this weekend as I couldn't face spending so much on a carb for a 22 year old engine. Will post results incase it's of help to anyone.
Update - the crankshaft is a smaller diameter, I'm buggered.
all might not be lost!! If the crankshaft is a smaller diameter on your replacement, you can usually buy sleeves to bring it up to what you. want I've used one of a Briggs engine to increase the shaft size from 7/82 to 1" If you,re replacement is too big, then you've a problem as oyu say. Good luck!!
It would be quicker just to swap carb from the donor engine surely
