Etesia 46, Hunting engine problems

Recently had this mower serviced and for the first few cuts all was well but on Friday engine started hunting(revs going up and down) and then cutting out,sounds like fuel starvation so sprayed the carb with cleaner but no effect.To add insult while we were fiddling with the mower a council worker stolled passed cutting grass with the sa me model mower but had obviously been hammered but working fine.
This is the PHTS model with the honda gcv 160 engine,would normally ask our repair
shop to sort it but got a few small lawns to cut next week.

    I had the exact problem exactaly a year ago, thread on it;

    I put the carb in a sonic cleaner for 30 mins and it worked fine, but happended again 2 months or so down the line.

    Replaced the carb for £35 and not had a problem since. Replacing the carb is a 10 -20 min job on the PHTS.

    Also put an in-line fuel filter in just before the carb - this will prevent future blockages like that.
