Etesia Pro 51K engine?

I have an ancient Etasia Pro 51K, 2002 model. The engine has just unfortunately blown now and I was wondering if its worthwhile putting another engine in.

It had the Kawasaki 6HP engine and I was wondering if there are other engines that could be used and easy to fit?

Its either get another engine or search eBay for a secondhand one and keep mine for parts which seems like the sensible thing to do.

Cheers

David

    Hi David

is the serial number still available on the machine ?

if not pop a photo on here and i can advise a little better.

short answer is yes your deck will take other engines ( best will be GCV or GXV hondas) but i will need to know age and style of machine to know how much more will need to be changed to do this (cables etc)

    • Hi Neal

      The model number is 1579675.

      Its a 2002 model Pro 51K.

      Thanks

  • The later FJ180V fits. I swapped mine last year, donor engine came from John Deere mower.

Mounting flange is identical, bolt pitch is the same, output shaft same diameter, keyway same and shaft length too.

Only difference is the throttle plate, I cut the throttle cable attachment off the old plate and brazed it to the new one so the standard throttle cable fits. Adjust engine cut out contacts and thats it, all done.

Only potential issue is the oil filter, not much space to remove and replace, do able just a bit tricky.

Can supply photos is you need them

Edit: looking on ebay, some don't have the oil filter, perhaps a better option.

    • Thanks Scott

I'll keep a look out for a Spare or repair e=model with a suitable engine.

As I say, I may just buy a secondhand Etasia of same model. I saw a few on eBay recently.

      Cheers

if going down the fj180 just make sure you get a standard engine machine (most main stream machines) which will have a 25mm crank to them, if you go for another version it could be fitted with the 22.2 and this will be a pain as there a tad shorter and you would need to change out blade break etc which is a mightmare as we only do the 25mm size with pro51 now

      • Thanks for the information Neal.

      • Hi Neal,

Can I ask if all FJ180V engines will fit if they have a 25 mm crank?

        Thanks

  • Well I bought a Kawasaki FJ180V engine off eBay with athe 1 inch by 3 inch crank shaft.

Unfortunately the lawnmower mechanic has said that the engine I bought doesn't fit. Apparantly it is probably from a ride on mower.

I thought that all fj180v engines would fit, but unfortunately not.

Ah well, back to the drawing board.
