Envorniment Agency Surface Water Flood Map ( New Facility )

The Environment Agency has, for the first time, released an interactive, online facility for checking if an area is liable to Surface Water Flooding (this is different from the existing flood maps).

p.s. On the same page, you can also 'flip' the map to show likelihood of flooding from Rivers and Reservoirs (which has been available for some while)

    I also found out our unit/yard is as well, but given we are next to a set of fishing lakes I guess it should not be a surprise :-) !

    Handy map!I have a little stream running through my garden and looks like the risk is very low!

    Given weather overnight - Link above includes access to EA River flood maps as well as Surface Water flood maps

    Not sure I like this!

    According to the map 100yrds either side of my house is at High Risk of surface water flooding.

    In the 50 odd years that I've lived here I've never even noticed a puddle!

    Could be interesting if the maps become a house buyers / insurers tool of choice.
