I've never used the elephant harness but I've been using the henchmen harness for about 10 years, I've now bought the newer model , I can't praise the henchmen enough it's excellent you can cut Hedges all day with no fatigue,I've told 2 more Gardeners in the area and they also use them now, buy one you will not regret it,
I took the plunge and bought the Henchman. Used it the day after it arrived on a large hedge. Once I got the settings correct and understood how it works, things went smoothly. I didn't feel the weight of the machine and the job was completed quickly. I will be using it again in the near future and will report back.
Thanks for the review James. I will be purchasing this soon
I purchased the Elephant trunk a couple of years ago. It comes out of the workshop once or twice to see if I can get on with it, which I can not. I don't know if it is because I use Stihl battery kit which is lighter, but I find it more of a hinderance than useful. Wish I had saved my pennies tbh.
I have done a lot of hedge cutting this week, without the Henchman. They were mainly small hedges and I didn't see the point of taking it out. Had a much larger job today and thought I would use the henchman. Some of the hedges were about 2m high. I used the henchman and couldn't believe how easy everything was. Now that I am used to it, I definitely moved much quicker and because it took all of the weight I was able to focus more. When holding the Long Reach at shoulder height or above to run along the top, it was effotless. I completed the job with ease. No more leaving it at home. Whenever I have a hedge cutting job, it will be in the van. If you are young and fit, you probably wouldn't feel the full benefits of it. As you get old and the joints are seizing as in my case, you really feel the benefits. In fact, I would say this will allow me to cut hedges into my advancing years.
In summary - I would highly recommend the henchman. For me with two poor shoulders this is a game changer.
Hi James
Would you be able to use this on top of a henchman ladder to do the tops of hedges?
I do with mine , it says not to but I've been using it for about 10 years I could not do hedges without it
Thank you
