Ego Nexus power inverter

Anybody who has gone the Ego route of battery powered tools like myself this looks interesting, not sure when it's available in the uk.

It converts the battery into a portable power source which could be useful while working or during leisure time.

We have pure sine wave (avoid modified sine wave ones) inverters in our vans which can charge up our battery kit as well as much more.

We hard wire them in and make sure that they have their own fuses.

Here is a link to one similar to the ones we use: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pure-Sine-Wave-Inverter-800W-Car-Power-I...

We have similar (from Amazon)- using a fused fly lead direct from the battery to a socket/plug which our inverter plugs into.

We've used a similar one for a couple of years for DeWalt/Oregon battery gear and are now using with Stihl Fast Charger.

It's good to see manufacturers waking up to the aspect of mobile teams.

      • Hi Gary. Forgive my ignorance. So if I get you right, you run leads from both van battery terminals into the rear of the van and fit a socket outlet to rhem.  Then plug the inverter into the outlet and the charger into the inverter?

Also, does this cause any grief to the vans electronic, alarm, central locking etc?

Yes, this setup is to solely charge up the batteries while in the van (while is different to the point if the Nexus inverter).

We have this setup in two vans into the front cab because on the Vivaro, the battery is just under the front passenger seat accessible by a removable battery cover plate (ie easy).

it gets also used to power Snowex grit spreaders which take a reasonable power draw and only ever gets used when engines are running.

No problems in 10+years but obviously can flatten a battery if attached device is not disconnect after use.

          • Thanks. Gary

  • Found another video of the Ego inverter

  • the only problem is we work on 240 v not 110 v unless you are on a building site so it would need to be upgraded to work safley, i am not sure but i think in the USA its DC power where ours is AC

  • PRO

The US uses 110V/AC and would be reasonable to expect they would provide a version suitable for the UK/EU should they reelase it here. Having said that, commercial site use require 110V (yellow) transformers anyway ?

    • thanks for putting that right Gary i know there is somware that uses dc

also the yellow transformers are a lot bigger amps

The inverter is not particularly powerful, so will never replace mains power or a generator.

It has USB socket outlets  so phones, tablets and the like can be charged directly.

Most laptop chargers and the like will work on an electrical supply between 100 and 240 volts, so you only need to swap the plug on them to be able to use the American Ego inverter as it is without any adaptation. 85035605?profile=RESIZE_930x85035540?profile=RESIZE_930x
