Edinburgh Garden School RHS Course

Hi anyone out there know what's going on with the Edinburgh Garden School? I had my DD payments stopped by them for the RHS Level 2 & 3 course, had a quick look online and the CEO Passed away recently and it says they will contact people in 7-10 days, the problem is I have payed £400 but only had the 1st module as I was planning to do all the studying over winter now its slowing down in the gardens. but the deadline to go in for the Feb exams closes in a couple of weeks and I'm a bit worried I wont be able to get hold of the rest of the course. Is anyone currently studying with Edinburgh Garden School and has anyone herd if they are still going to carry on?

Have you contacted them through their website Lou?

  • Oops forgot about that in my panic, just emailed now, I tried calling there landline earlier but it just rang out. Maybe I'll have more luck now, cheers
  • Me and a college colleague are in same situation. Different courses but DD stopped and we have not been able to get hold of them. Really annoyed. That announcement was made end of October and nothing since. Only thing can think of is trying to get a refund via PayPal:(
    • Yea I still haven't heard anything from them either. I emailed them again the other day telling them I want a refund but I am thinking now the only way is to contact PayPal. Terrible to not bother contacting anyone tho! The director was listed in a similar company on company's house but has been taken off that one and still listed as director of borders connect counseling plc. Grr hopefully we'll get back the money soon!

I have to say that this doesn't reflect well on the Edinburgh Garden School.

I'v just checked their website and nothing's changed. No new messages.

I've just tweeted the RHS and asked if they know what's happening.

    • I've now opened a claim with PayPal for the instalments I've paid already. I don't know if company gone bust but it doesn't take 8 weeks to at very least updated website. I've tried every which way to contact them but nothing.
      • I'm in a similar position with the Edinburgh Garden School: I paid £195 in full for the 'Introduction to Horticulture' in September (I do not work in the trade; gardening is just a hobby). I have received four out of six modules though only two assignments were marked by the tutor (which I had to chase up). I sent the third assignment off in November but heard nothing back from the tutor. I have emailed several times and left a phone message. They seem to have disappeared off the face of the planet. I also didn't receive an email explaining the restructuring of the company, as they promised on their website. I'd also like to add that the course materials were full of typos, as other people have remarked in other website reviews. Yesterday I started the process of getting a refund through PayPal: the first thing I had to do was email the company, but I'm not expecting a reply! The next step will be to complain through PayPal. Has anyone else received a refund?

        • You have tried to contact them. So you need to escalate and put in a claim for the money via PayPal resolution centre for non delivery of service. I've done this. It's a pain as I paid instalments so I have to put a claim for each one. PayPal give them a date to respond then issue refund. I've got one payment back waiting on the others now.
