Hi Peter a Stihl HS45 ( not HC45 ) was suggested to me by a customer who had spent a small fortune on stocking a large garden with various shrubs including box which could be cut into balls and shapes and regularly maintained .
I know he put equal effort into choosing a suitable machine and he could afford to buy any .
At the time I was using an Echo HC1501which I felt had more control but took longer to get through the work .
I used the customers Stihl HS45 with a longer blade and there was a notable difference .
Longer blade meant further away from the job was easier as I could see what I was cutting .
Rotating handle was a distinct bonus on some shrubs keeping the machine in line and faster cutting speed gave a better finish .
Sorry I can't compare the actual machines you mention but just highlighting the comparisons of the machines I was using .
Both machines still working after many years of use the Stihl going back to late 80's , The echo 2014 .
Thanks, gone with the Echo 2320 as it has 2yr pro warranty and the pitch on the blades seem better than the Stihl. We run Echo pb8010 and pb770 blowers and 2 Echo semi long reach hedge cutters all been faultless and have had a lot of abuse. Time will tell!
