E-commerce sites- what are the best ways to get your business noticed for online sales?

We are setting up an online retail aspect to our seed sales business. We already supply gtass and wildflower seed to a great many landscaping contractors, local authorities, garden maintenance companies, sports clubs and we wanr ro widen our client base.
We also want to make it easier for everyone to ask for quotes and to buy from us without too much hasssle.
What aspects of launching the business too a wider audience are important?
You advice would be appreciated.
