Hi All

I got a client with a big veg patch, they like a drip tape watering system installed! OK I can fit it OK the problem is when I come to dig it over for the winter and all the pipes are in the way!!! Have any of you used this type of watering system at all?

Can you remove the pipes to dig over or can you put them into the ground so there out of the way?

Look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

I have raised beds at home, originally I set up with a leaky hose in to each bed & around the ornamental beds as well. It was a pain in the ass system, did the job ok but unless you plumb the connecting pipes up & down the sides of the beds & under the pathways (which I didn't) it was always getting in the way. And yes it's in the way when comes to turning the beds over as well.

The other downside was a fox or badger decided the pipe was a great play thing & always chewed through it. Nowadays it's a can or hosepipe!

    • Thanks, Neil for that great help! Just wondering if a sprinkler system and be better?

There's still the feed system of pipes to get to the sprinkler (all thin PVC)... maybe if you installed it you would put the pipes in sensible places not just the shortest route between sprinklers... Its a bit like an electrician rewiring a house and running wires diagonally accross walls and floors - it would be a nightmare

        • Thanks, Adam I could do that! I'll look into it! I know what you mean! LOL, I may use a porous pipe?

I have 2 gardens with those weeping hoses and one with a full irrigation system - they are a nightmare - the fork seems to be magnetically drawn to the pipes - and the pipes are always under that piece of bindweed or ground elder.
