drilling york stone

i have aquired some large york stone rockery stones and 1 of them is a nice flat shape about 9 inches thick that i think would make a great water feature but i need to drill a hole through it.has anyone ever tried anything like this? is it possible? whats the best method? i need at least a 16mm hole and ideally a 32mm hole, would a diamond corer do the job?thanks
