Do you use key performance indicators?

Whether we do it consciously through a spreadsheet, via reports generated through our account packages or just by churning numbers over in our head, most of us will use some kind of key performance indicator.

Analysing business can become all-consuming and there definitely is a line whereby over-analysing actually produces a negative response.

But to get on and be successful we have to monitor the key aspects of our respective operations.

What are the derivatives you most use and what is the most valuable performance indicator you use?

    I just use a basic spreadsheet, nothing fancy. I try to record the weather differentiation to the met office and any other factors. I provide a spreadsheet calculating costs, profits and margins but need to calculate margins. I remember seeing you had done a spreadsheet Phil, regarding margins but not sure where it is now....

    As for a performance indicator, I questionnaire my one off customers and review frequently.
