  • Also if your budget for a hedge cutter was £100 would you get a second hand sthil/ecko or i can get a brand new trimber pro with tool kit for that price?
    • There is a Stihl HS46 on ebay currently, fancied it myself but can't justify it right now.

      • Ok will have a look, just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with timberpro

I would not bother for £100 as what you get will not be very good. I might try a decent electric machine like a mid range Bosch if that was my budget. You won't get a decent 2 stroke machine for £100
      • Ok the only issue apart from the cable is I think it might look unprofessional, not sure though
  • You may get a decent used machine, Echo as you suggested or Tanaka.

Think about spares - do you have a local spares outlet, or could you get spares from someone like L&S online?

A cheaper brand sat in the shed awaiting spares with a 3 week delivery will drive you mad and maybe lose you money too.

  • Great name....any relation to Austin??  Curious here............... what made you register with company house presumably to become a limited company? Seems unusual when just starting out.  As to pointing you in the right direction...... without more details, very difficult to do.

The Timberpro stuff looks and is really cheap.................... Can't honestly see it lasting long if its getting any sort of regular use.

    • Hi yes he's my uncle and why wouldn't I set up a company name is there a negative to it I want to start building a name from the start?

A very wise move to secure your Ltd company name - shows you're thinking of the future and how you want to run your business, even if it starts as a sole trader. The costs for running a dormant company are negligible in the meantime.

I think the point was more get the basics done first (companies house is not a basic requirement)
Then move on to the other stuff once you are up and running.
Point being if you don't know what oil to put in the petrol you won't be needing the registration quite yet.
Then again I like things really simple!
Getting out there and working is the first task in my opinion.
        Good luck with it
