Directory scam warning from Surrey Trading Standards

This initially affects Surrey businesses, but I reckon they'll be trying any and everywhere:

 

"Please be aware that some local businesses have been approached to advertise in directories linked to Surrey Chambers of Commerce.

Only Benham Publishing (“The Chamber” magazine publishers) and members of the Surrey Chambers team are authorised to sell advertising in connection with the organisation.

Names we have been alerted to are Mode Publications, Redstone Publishing and County Business Directories.

We are taking this potential scam very seriously so if you are approached by these or other companies alleging a connection with us, please inform us.  

When contacting us with information please provide as much detail as possible.  Please send your information to sarah.edwards@surrey-chambers.co.uk.
