Afternoon all,

We don't do much lawn work but Im doing a favour for a friend.  His lawn has a couple of reasonably big dips that he wants to level out.  I don't have the time to dig out the turf and level up that way but was wondering whether I can just add topsoil on top of the existing grass in the dip area and level up to the surrounding level & overseed.  Would there be any issues with adding soil over existing grass?

  • Yes, that is fine to do. If the dips aren't too deep than top-dressing with a blended sand/loam may be more beneficial. For deeper dips then just soil is fine. Give the areas a good spiking with a fork first.

  • That's interesting, I have s similar job to do and I am hoping to use the same method as you!
