Digger purchase or hire

Im using a digger more and more often, what thoughts are there regarding wether its worth while buying or not having the cost of maintenance, insurance and depreciation and sticking with hire, Im considering the purchase of a digger and tracked dumper

  • Mate, you simply cannot loose. I have a 1.7t on fipnance over five years, with a five year extended warranty. Approx £280/month covers the monthly payments with finance at 2% flat rate. After five years I will have an asset worth approx 7k (from 15k new) In the meantime, the profit from two days digger and driver hire (with me paying my operator) covers the monthly payments. There's none of the transport costs (or your time), none of the hiring wanked out machines. I can have it hanging around site all day and only working half an hour, but saving half a days manual work-it doesn't matter.

Go for it. Maintenance is cheap if you do it youself. JCB Insurance are good.
