Dedicated mulcher

Hi all,First time posting but have enjoyed reading and learning from discussions on here in the past so many thanks for that.I wanted to get people's opinions on dedicated munchers. I am interested in getting one to add to the fleet for next year but not sure which one. I definitely understand the value of good dealer support so my options appear to be either the Viking MB 4RTP or the Stiga pro 53 SB. It would be great to get some feedback on these or suggestions for anything else I may have over looked. Many thanks in advance

I've heard good things about the stiga

Also others to choose but depends on size and budget

We've used the Husqvarna LB553S this season based on a recommendation from another company that uses them extensively for domestic lawns. Completely reliable, good lawn finish, tough, good speed, honda engine. Great addition to our fleet with lots of time savings on some lawns.

Have no experience of the two you mention, the Stiga looks closer to the Husqy, but we tend to shy away from B&S engines where possible due to previous probs.

The little Honda hrs I think is not bad as well I've heard on lgn a while ago
      • I know a contractor that tried the Honda hrs and was not particularly impressed with it. He said the side chute was too small and the finish wasn't fantastic.
  • We have a little Clippo mulcher tucked away for 'special' jobs, such as working on slopes near fences, as the handles swivel so that you can get really tight without knocking some bark of your knuckles.  It's a lovely little machine to use, the handles are also rubber mounted so vibration is virtually non existent. Drive is off the front wheels.

    • The Clippo sounds very similar to the stiga as that is front wheel drive with swivel handles and rubber engine mounts. Wouldn't be surprised to here there related.
      • So it does!

        • What's the finish like Colin as I do run a new Etesia pro 46 which mulches very well but it is very slow?
          • I have never used an Etesia, so can't compare speed of operation. The finish from the Clippo is OK, but our favourite mulcher is the Honda HRH536. A heavy beast and built like a tank, reminds me of the old Hayter machines I had 30 years ago - and that makes me happy!
