Yes and use them in all our vehicles. Probably one of best in class. Good quality with higher models having good night time visibility along with GPS / speed time-stamping / wireless connectivity ( although you ‘might’ want to disable the ‘speed’ feature :| )

Screen mounts are good and stay stuck with quick detach capability. Highly recommend you also buy hard wiring kit for better/neater installation. iOS & Androad Apps available to download, review recordings etc on your phone.3813093999?profile=RESIZE_930x

That’s  interesting, thanks Gary as I have been pondering getting one and someone also said the Garmin Mini does the job but has no screen but then I read some bad reviews and was a bit out off buying it.

You can configure the Nextbase unit to turn the screen off 30sec or so after the ignition goes on (which is what we do - the fun watching the screen soon goes !).

There's many cheaper options out there and some work well in daylight, but not at night. WiFi options makes downloading video easy (no cables). GPS is useful as it effectively allows you location stamp your journey to identify location if involved in an incident.

        • Cheers Gary thats me sorted then always love the heads up on this site. Have a good weekend. J

Have you disclosed them to your insurer and, if so, has it resulted in a lower premium?

If disclosed and they are not working/switched on are you still covered correctly in case of an accident?

We have not 'declared' them as when we checked with A Plan the discount was minimal (less than £2 pa), but do have them fully wired in so if needed we can then 'produce' evidence if needed.

I wish I could upload a video from one incident that happened a good few years, writing off one of the Vans. The other party insisted it was our fault for hitting her car in the rear. Once she finished giving a statement to the Police at the scene with ran the dashcam vi which totally contradicted her ;)

    • Hi Gary, I remembered this post when A plan asked me if I had a cam fitted last week, at renewal. I am still thinking of getting a camera, what nextbase model do you use in your vans please & are they easy to hard wire? Cheers Neil

  • I have the nextbase dashcam, and it does the job brilliantly, very clear, high resolution. As Gary says, it sticks to the window well, and I have the image going off after 30 seconds too. Dusk and night vision surprisingly clear too.

  •  Thanks for raising this Jessica, I have been pondering the purchase of a camera. Like you I have a bulkhead, but wondered if still possible to hard wire it to the reversing camera?

Yes it is. You simply look for a model that has separate front and rear caneras. ‘Cheap’ option often have them as one unit ( ie the rear facing camera shows your faces as it looks back ).

The rear cameras are direct wired ( although I believe some are WiFi connected).
