Part joking, part serious - the roads are better in the US than over here :)
I've seen them in use while working in the US and often thought about them here, but the thought of all your tools being on display, bounced around due to minimal trailer suspension, covered in road crud and 'insecure' would worry the life out of me.
They're called trimmer racks.

I've also seen them with mounts for blowers/sprayers.
Personally looks pretty easy to walk up to with a pair of bolt cutters and cut the locks off to take the strimmer.
It's a project that never got finished for my little trailer(6.5 by 4) I made a work bench to sit at the front and the linings for the mesh with some long thin boxes on for storing small stuff.
I need to finish it with the roof again made from ply opening from the middle both ways so you can flip it over the outside of the trailer when at work but the close and lock when on the move (and when you are going out of sight)
I really need to get it finished will post some pics if I ever get round to finishing it!!
All bits are removable so you can just use it for waste. I just need to get hinges and locks etc for the top to go on:)
I wouldn't even contemplate putting anything of value in a trailer where it can be viewed and consequently stolen so easily. I use mine when necessary to carry a large mower....... even then, it's locked to the mesh sides with a cable lock. Anything else of value goes in the van. Main use of the trailer is for prunings etc where it's invaluable
I would love one of these American set ups, but our roads are just not set up for large vehicles, and parking would be a nightmare.
